Check out this hidden Vellum feature that formatters can use for unindented paragraph continuations!
When you have a split paragraph and need the next sentence to continue a previous thought, Vellum’s “Format Next Paragraph As” option allows you to choose NOT to indent a following paragraph, even if all the others in the book are regular indented paragraphs.

[00:00:00] When you’re working on a project, not every paragraph should be indented, and I really like this trick inside Vellum for giving you more control of how the text should flow.
[00:00:12] So if we have some sections where—we need to set something as a poem—first, I’m going to italicize that so it’s a little more obvious. I’m going to inset it, so now it’ll come in from the outside edges. But because this is a continuation of the paragraph, this paragraph should not be indented.
[00:00:36] So when we go back up to where we set this Alignment Block, which, that was from the Add Text Feature menu, I can click the gear menu to the right of that and come down to Format Next Paragraph As. I don’t want it to be a new paragraph, I want it to be a continuation. So that takes out the indent and lets the paragraph keep flowing as it’s meant to.
[00:00:58] There are these two lines here as well, so I’m going to italicize these, come back to my Add Text Feature menu, and do an Alignment Block for these. Again, we have the previous sentence, the line of this poem, and then an indented paragraph. Again, we’ll come down to Format Next Paragraph As, from within the Alignment Block, tell it Continuation of Previous, and there we have it.
[00:01:24] This option to control the following paragraph is available for Images, Alignment Blocks, Lists, Block Quotations, and the Verse formatting. So for any of those, if you need that, come to the small gear menu by the text where you’ve formatted it and choose Format Next Paragraph As.
